DAY 850-856

Dec 30 - Jan 5

1) I've been procrastinating with my blog updates for far too long already. So here goes the past week of activities, including the following highlights:

a) A quick stopover at Stadium Indera Mulia
b) Meetup with Mr. Arthur Yeong over breakfast
c) Tenby International School reunion with teachers and friends
d) Food trails - hot and sour crab :)

Do scroll down for the pics and captions - you won't be disappointed. Thanks for tuning in, have a nice day. Cheers!

At the Perak Stadium

At Black Canyon Coffee - their battered cod with mixed vegetables and rice is an absolute must try!
The tangy chilli lime sauce is literally to die for :)

My dad had the pineapple fried rice

Ham and mushroom spaghetti

Chicken skewers served with garlic fried rice - absolutely delicious!

Idli or idly are a type of savoury rice cake, originating from the Indian subcontinent, popular as breakfast foods in southern India and northern Sri Lanka. The cakes are made by steaming a batter consisting of fermented black lentils (de-husked) and rice.

Our very own version of Dublin's Coca-Cola bikes

One of my favourite soups - Oxtail soup at First Restaurant

Thick, creamy almost stew-like, and bursting with flavour :)

My dad got the fish and chicken curry set, served with rice and salad

The chicken chop was okay for me

Another one of their specialties is the caramel custard - words cannot do it justice. Try it yourself! :)

The sign says Penang, but this is actually in Ipoh XD

Penang Road Famous Chendul - in Parkson Grand (right beside the Food Court)

With my grandpa :))

Parkson Grand

Manhattan Condominium - my mom has a unit here :)

The pork chop at the Stadium stalls is out-of-this-world amazing
Tender, juicy, flavorful - maybe I should consider changing my blog theme to food XD

IPOH sign at the Stadium

Stadium Indera Mulia - the stadium at Ipoh
(the colour choice of white, yellow and black are the three colours of our state flag)

Perak The Bos Gaurus Football Club or Perak TBG is a professional football club based in Ipoh City that competes in Malaysia Super League. Founded in 1921, the club's home ground since then has been Perak Stadium in IpohPerak. The club represents the state of Perak in Malaysian football competitions. They currently play in the top division in Malaysian football, the Malaysia Super League and has never been relegated since the introduction of football league in Malaysia.

30 degrees at night
(on New Year's Day!)

My granddad used to exercise here every morning

Har Mee - egg noodles are served in richly flavoured dark soup stock with prawnspork slices, fish cake slices and bean sprouts, topped with fried shallots and spring onion. The stock is made using dried shrimp, plucked heads of prawns, white pepper, garlic and other spices.

A beautiful cafe in Ipoh called "Purple Moon Lover" Cafe

I got this wonderful fried chicken teriyaki set

Lovely dinner with my mom

An assortment of different kuih (bite-sized cakes/snacks/pastries)

A very enjoyable chat with Mr. Arthur Yeong over breakfast
(Mr. Arthur is partner at Arthur Yeong Nonee Ashirin, Advocates & Solicitors, Greentown, Ipoh)

Meeting up with Mr Louis and my old friends at Tenby International School!
(it was a huge surprise seeing them as we didn't plan to meet at all XD)

Giving a short speech at the assembly, as a Tenby alumni

It's been such a long time since I left - feels so good to be back and see so many familiar faces :)

With our dear Maths teacher Madam Lau! :)

Our meal at Sushi-Tei was fan-tei-stic! :)

Tonight's meal is one of my absolute favourites - hot and sour crab! :)
I have no words for it - you simply cannot get enough!

The best dinner I've had in a long time
(with my mom at Tong Sui Kai)
Tong Sui Kai (Dessert Street) is one of the most happening eating places in Ipoh after the sun sets. The street is lined with dozens of food stalls mostly selling desserts (hence the name), snacks like rojak, boiled cockles and various noodles.

And that's how you finish off, by leaving nothing behind ^^

For dessert, we had (clockwise l-r) mixed fruits with shaved ice, ais kacang, prawn crackers with sweet shrimp sauce (rojak)
