DAY 273

Jun 1

1) And just like that, our holiday trip is over! In five days, I will be participating in the RCSI Research Summer Programme, with Dr. Darren Griffith as my Principal Investigator. It has been non stop action since our exams ended, so I do appreciate the couple of days' spare time to compose myself and mentally prepare for it.

2) So my day began with waking up late. Went to AIB Bank to withdraw some money as I had almost none left from my trip, then I went for my appointment with my doctor at Mercer Medical Centre. During the trip, I noticed myself coughing more often, and towards the last few days of the trip it got quite bad. My throat always felt ticklish, and that made me want to cough.

3) The doctor examined me and suggested that it was the aftereffects of my chest infection, which I had had a couple of months ago. He prescribed Ventolin, in the form of an inhaler, which I got at Boots Pharmacy. One puff three times daily was the dosage. Took one soon after buying it and felt instant relief. Here's hoping the cough subsides soon enough :)

4) I was under the assumption that I would be meeting up with my friends to settle some of the payment for bookings and accommodation. However, the meeting was postponed till tomorrow, so I decided to just stay at the library, since I had been waiting there already. Later, I went to Dunnes to buy groceries to cook for the week.

5) Came back after buying dinner at Boojum, where I've been relaxing and just chilling the night out. I'm cooking after this, so I'd best end today's blog update here. Thanks for reading as always, and have a nice day. Cheers!

If I'm not mistaken, the "Congrats!" Balloon was used in the Graduation Ceremony 2017 for the Senior Cycle students

DAY 256

May 15

1) Today I expected to spend a leisurely day contemplating on life, idling about with nothing in mind- just before our trip tomorrow. But instead, I found myself moving to and fro, sorting out everything and encountering some hiccups in the process.

2) The first thing I did was go to the bank to withdraw some cash. Unfortunately, I couldn't remember my PIN number and had to call up customer service. Worse still, the lines were all haywire today, which meant I could not reach anyone even after close to an hour of trying. Finally, it dawned on me that I could find a way to retrieve the number, but I had to come back again later. In the end, after close to three hours, I managed to withdraw some pocket money for the Europe trip tomorrow.

3) In the afternoon, my friends and I met up at the Coffee Doc to discuss on the exact details of our trip, down to times and transportation. We also sorted out all the necessary documents, printing extra copies for each other just for good measure. Zi Yan and Kuhan had to pack up earlier, as they were moving out from Mercer today. Meanwhile, I was fortunate enough to be able to exchange money for Croatian kuna (their currency).

4) By and large, our travel itinerary is complete, save for a few empty time slots. Here's hoping all goes well, since it's our first time travelling together for a long period of time. I cannot wait for tomorrow, as it is the start of a wonderful adventure haha. I'll be taking a nap soon, as our flight is at seven tomorrow and we plan to reach the airport before five. That's all from me today, and the next blog update will be from somewhere in Germany (I hope XD). Thanks for reading, and have a nice day. Cheers!

"All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go..."

Keeping my fingers crossed that this adapter will work in all European countries haha

DAY 71

Nov 11

1) Today was a really busy day for me. Got up, had breakfast before studying for a while. Then at nine, went for my appointment at the Mercer Medical Centre, where the nurse drew some blood for testing and gave me a vaccination for Hepatitis B. Afterwards, went to collect my cheque for the Irish Mace Debates, before going to Dunnes to buy some new light bulbs and toothpaste.

2) Around this time, I received some great news - we had managed to make it to the second round of the Irish Mace Debates! I was totally elated over the news as it was so sudden and unexpected. To be honest, I had give up all hope of progressing haha. So, decided to have a celebratory lunch at Chief Chang's Buffet at the top floor of St. Stephen's Green Shopping Centre. Really authentic Asian cuisine.

3) Afterwards, went to AIB Bank to deposit the two cheques, before going home to pack my belongings for the Mt. Errigal trip. As I type this, the minutes are ticking by before I'll be leaving for RCSI to meet up with the rest. I'll end early tonight, and hopefully take lots of wonderful pics and vids for the next day. That's all for today, and thank you very much as always. Cheers!

DAY 12

Sept 13

1) Today was another one of those "normal days". Woke up early-since class starts at nine, had breakfast and attended the one hour lecture on biomedicine. At ten, we were introduced to our personal tutors. Mine is Dr. Natasha Rafter, a specialist in public health medicine. We had a small icebreaking session before she gave us a tour of her office at Beau Lane House.

2) After that, we were free for the rest of the day, or so we thought. Me and my friends went to enquire about our bank details at AIB Bank. Unfortunately, my ATM card wasn't ready yet so I will have to pay them a visit again later.

3) We discovered a Subway restaurant at Grafton Street which had an offer; a six-inch sub with drink, for only €4. I tried the tuna while my friends had the tika masala. I'm not sure if it was the cold weather, but it tasted really good! After that, it was back home to rest and have a quick study.

4) It turned out that we DID have an event in the evening- an English proficiency test from 5.30 to 7.00 pm! The first test we would have and it had nothing to do with medicine- great, I thought. Anyways, it was challenging but the pressure was on since we would be required to take additional lessons on English if we did not pass it.

5) Had dinner afterwards at The Noodle House. I ordered the 4-in-1 combo with chicken, beef and chips. It was okay, I guess. I might try something else next time. Finished up, went back to RCSI only to find out that the Life Raft Debate which I wanted to go to was already over. Oh well, there's always a next time. Walked all the way back home to type this out. My brain is fried after today's "exam". Need to recharge the batteries. Goodnight!
