DAY 142

Jan 21

1) Today has been a nice day for me. Woke up to have toast for breakfast, and I opened a new jar of jam. Looks a little strange with its green colour, but still tasted good haha. Went to the library, and started studying till lunch time.

2) I had pizza from Dunnes for lunch (I'll cook tonight I promise XD), then continued studying a little. Had a break chatting with my dad, took a short nap afterwards, and by around 4.00pm me and Zi Yan went to the RCSI building next door to continue the surgical laporoscopy research programme. The same five tasks as usual, but I somehow couldn't complete the last task within the time limit. Oh well, I tried at least...

3) Came back to the library, and remembered that I had stuff to buy at Dunnes. So I headed back to do my shopping, in preparation for my cooking tonight. Finally, I returned to the library where I had my dinner. Continued to study until about 9.00pm, then had a light supper. Returned home a little earlier than usual, as I expect to cook till late in the night. That's all for today's blog update, and thanks very much for reading. Cheers!

Finished my peanut butter today ^^

DAY 109

Dec 19

1) Today was a fun day! Woke up to have breakfast, and went to the library (!) to kick back and enjoy surfing the net. Basically, I spent some time watching videos and catching up on the latest vids of my favourite YouTubers.

2) For lunch, I went to Subway as usual, and got myself a Festive Feast Sandwich, slightly more expensive at €4.50 instead of the usual €4.00, but very tasty indeed. Came back to library for a while, and at 3.00pm we had the final session of the laporoscopic surgery research programme. I performed all 5 surgical tasks as instructed, and they said feedback would be provided next year.

3) By evening, I met Zi Yan at the gym where we worked out for a bit. Had a nice, quick game of badminton, before meeting up with everyone else to have dinner. We chose Han Yang (the Korean restaurant) again for the huge portion sizes. I tried the beef bulgogi with rice this time around, and it was marvellous.

4) Returned home to Kuhan's apartment, where the four of us sat down to finish watching One Punch Man (an anime) on Khee Heng's laptop. It was getting late by then, so I packed up and returned home to type this out. That's all for today's blog update, and thanks for reading. Cheers!

Mmmmmm, toasty! :D

DAY 108

Dec 18

1) Today has been a monumentally boring day. Woke up at around 8.30am, before deciding that there was nothing for me to do XD. Had my breakfast and dilly-dallied until about ten before heading over to my friend's apartment. Transferred some of my friend Esther's photos and videos into my computer.

2) At noon, Khee Heng, Kuhan, Zi Yan, and I went for buffet lunch at Ten Thousand World Buffet. It was a delicious and inexpensive meal, that would also become my dinner. On the way back, my friends and I went to different tourism offices to look and compare prices. We are planning on a couple of day trips during the winter break, mostly around Ireland.

3) Came back to Kuhan's apartment to compare prices, and we have agreed on five places we'd like to visit. Details to be revealed soon ^^ Anyway, I spent some time at Khee Heng's apartment, where we watched One Punch Man together! Not the best way of managing time wisely I'll admit, but what the heck - it's great bonding time. We stopped at episode 6, which means I have another 6 episodes which I'm saving for another time.

4) Returned home as it was getting late, and I had some cookies and tea to fill my stomach. Typed this out and will be sleeping in a bit. Tomorrow is the last step of our Surgical Laporoscopic Research Programme, and it promises to be as fun as the previous ones I attended. Until then, thank you very much for reading, and have a great day. Cheers!

DAY 91

Dec 1

1) Today was a typical studying day. Woke up early to have some toast for breakfast, and headed straight to library to begin studying.

2) Around noon, I went to Burger King for lunch, and tried their Lunch Deals for €5.75. Left very satisfied haha. Then it was pretty much revising until evening...

3) Had dinner at Burrito Blues, just opposite Boojum. I ordered a quesadilla, and had some Mexican fries as a side. I managed to choose the spiciest sauce though, and that instantly opened up my sinuses haha

4) Came back to the library. After a while, it was time for our second session of Laporoscopic Surgery Tutorials, under Mr. Cuan Harrington. Today, it was free and easy, so we were allowed to pick our own tasks and complete them, under his guidance. I did all five tasks, and so did the rest. Essentially it was a revision session from the previous lesson.

5) Had a lot of fun playing "surgeon" for a day. Apparently the tasks that we did are the same ones required as basic skills needed to become a surgeon. It wasn't easy that's for sure. Anyway, came back to library at around half past nine, and I plan to stay here for a while longer before heading home. That's all for today, and thanks for reading. Cheers!

DAY 86

Nov 26

1) Today was a positive day for me. Woke up for breakfast, before meeting my friend Nee Kee at the Coffee Doc at RCSI, to discuss about the Portfolio that we have as part of our course in medicine. Still haven't finished it yet, but at least I'm one step closer haha. At around 10am, we went to the IT Department just next door, for a workshop on Laporoscopic Surgery and Research. Our instructor for the day was Cuan Harrington, a PhD Research Fellow at RCSI.

2) He walked us through the basic steps, and guided us on performing five or six surgical tasks, under controlled conditions. It was so much fun, using graspers, trying out intra- and extracorporeal surgery for the first time. Apparently, our results were being used as part of their research, for students with minimal exposure and experience to laporoscopic surgery.

3) The event finished at quarter past twelve, and I went to Subway on Grafton St for a hearty lunch. Made my way to the library to prepare the text for tomorrow's debate in Cork, and finished my script/ preparations by quarter to five. Went back to RCSI for the next event for the day, the Penang Medical College Student's Association (PMCSA) Farewell Dinner 2016.

4) We carried the food from the ground floor to the Exam Hall upstairs, and made sure there was enough food for the guests. Everyone did a great job of volunteering, and the event was a remarkable success! At around nine, the event was over, and some of us (myself included) stayed back to help clear the plates and trays of food. When all this was done, my friends and I went to the basement at Millin's, where large containers of fried chicken and fries awaited us. Ate like nobody's business...

5) Came back home at close to midnight, and had a quick shower before typing this out. I'm going to sleep soon as I will have to wake up really early tomorrow to catch the first bus to Hueston Dublin, where I'll be taking a train to Cork. That's all for tonight then, enjoy the pics, and goodnight. Cheers!
