DAY 366/367/368

Sep 1, 2 & 3

1) The past three days have been really exciting. In addition to all my friends returning, I've made many new friends coming to Ireland for the first time. On Saturday evening, Zi Yan and I went over to the airport to pick up Talal, who hails all the way from Pakistan. We took a taxi back to RCSI, before showing him to his residence at Mercer Court. I must admit, the sight of the lounge, kitchen and the corridors brought back a wave of nostalgia - when I went over to Mercer whenever the library was closed during winter time. Bittersweet memories, but intense memories all the same. We went for dinner at Super Miss Sue, before returning home.

2) Today we met up with the other first years at Mercer. We split into two groups - one would go to Zaika, while the other opted for The Noodle House. As The Noodle House was closed, we decided to for Subway instead. We basically occupied the entire shop as it was quite small. After lunch, we returned to the college first, before splitting into yet smaller groups. We then brought our friends over to Penney's, to get some pillows and duvets. We passed by the Asian Market and took a short tour inside too. Coming back, we went to the St. Stephen's Green Shopping Centre, and we introduced them to Argos (one stop shop), Boots (pharmacy), and Dunnes supermarket.

3) After a long day out, Zi Yan and I took the students who lived in New Mill back home, to unload their stuff. It's my first time visiting New Mill myself, and I can safely say it looks amazing. Too bad it's not as close as the other two on-campus accommodations, but I'm sure they'll manage just fine. Anyway, we had to rush back to make it in time for the 5.00pm orientation session at the new building. Let's just say we made it in the nick of time. Zi Yan left soon enough, while I had to withdraw money and get my dinner. Stayed in the library until late, before taking the LUAS back home. DAY 275

Jun 3

1) Today has been a largely uneventful day, thanks mostly due to my own tardiness. I woke up late as usual, and went down for breakfast. Continued to tidy up my room as much as possible, until lunch time.

2) In the afternoon, I went over to the library to meet my friends. We took some time to calculate how much to pay each other for our long holiday together. Glad to say that everything is officially sorted out. My friends stayed back at the library, while I went over to Argos (at St. Stephen's Green Shopping Centre) to buy a portable hard drive.

3) My dad had recommended me a cheap 1TB hard drive for €64, so that was what I got. I've used it to store all the photos and videos from the trip, in order to free up space in my Mac. As it was still drizzling outside, I decided against going for my run today. Perhaps tomorrow then... XD

4) I had my dinner at Boojum again. Returned to my apartment for the rest of the night. I discovered (quite by accident) that the 2nd season of the "Attack on Titan" anime had already been uploaded. Cue binge watching haha. In all seriousness, I've finished half of it already so I need to start rationing or I'd finish too early. Anyway, that was my rather boring day, but I hope you enjoyed reading about it anyway. Have a nice day, cheers!

DAY 66

Nov 6

1) Today was a great day! Woke up to have some cereal, before chatting with my dad until connection disrupted us again ): Continued my studies for a couple of hours, before meeting up with my friend Khee Heng for lunch. We went to a buffet called the Ten Thousand World Buffet, and as the name suggests, there was a whole smorgasbord of dishes available, the most memorable being the pork ribs and beef with gravy. All for only €8.00!

2) Afterwards, we went to Penneys, just down the block from the buffet, to buy winter clothing. I had to buy a new pair of shoes as well. So we tried on the clothes and after much searching, I ended up paying €10 for a very comfortable winter jacket, and €6 for a nice pair of shoes. Money very well spent I reckon.

3) With shopping done, Khee Heng returned home to Mercer while I still had to go hunting for a portable heater at Argos, St. Stephen's Green Shopping Centre. Went there while wearing the jacket, and it felt sooooooo warm, even though I only had one T-shirt beneath it. Managed to find a portable heater for €12 at Argos, and bought it straight away. The nights have been way too cold for me recently.

4) Came back home immediately, to test out my new heater. Works like a charm, if I may say so myself. Will have to catch up a bit with my studies, as I have been really busy this past week. DAY 9

Sept 10

1) Today woke up early to do the groceries. Was planning to get a new printer, so Nee Kee and I went to Argos at Dunnes to get the HP DeskJet 2132 All-In-One Printer, only to find out they were out of stock. The service department referred us to another branch at Jervis, which was across the bridge! Too bad, then. So we walked all the way there. At Jervis, they told us there was only one printer left, and redirected us to Argos at Ilac, just down the block. What luck!

2) Finally purchased the printers, before heading back to Dunnes to do my shopping for the week. Had a nice frozen meal for lunch at Mercer's, and then went home to dress up for the Meet and Greet session at the Malaysian Embassy in Ireland at 3pm.

3) The event comprised a series of long speeches by some big shots, followed by student representatives from the various institutions in Ireland. If I am completely honest, it was not what I had in mind. But anyways, we each got a packet of "nasi lemak" after the lectures, so I guess that made up for it. My friends and I accompanied me back to the apartment, where we had for dinner, what was supposed to have been lunch.

4) Not feeling completely full, I decided to cook some spaghetti for the night. So I prepared the pasta, boiled the broccoli and made the sauce. As you can see from the pictures below, not the prettiest meal ever, but still palatable I guess haha. Finally got the printer to work after a long battle, and now I'm here typing this out.
