DAY 176

Feb 24

1) So today has been a really awesome day for me! For starters, we got through our first Card Signing, which is the culmination of a week's hard work. Our surgeon prosector today was Dr. Jane Holland, who frequently gives us lectures on anatomy as well. I was extremely lucky to get an A- for it. Granted in terms of marks, literally nothing separates an A from a B, but as my friend Gavin so tactfully put it; an A- is still an A.

2) There were two more lectures after Card Signing, but the elation of having finished our test meant that I wasn't paying much attention to the lecturer. Nevertheless, it was still a great lecture by Prof. J. Docherty, and he's one of the very few (if only) professors who can elicit a round of applause from the audience after each of his lectures. Fun fact: if you're Malaysian and were present during his lecture today, you'll feel a sense of pride knowing that the inventor of propranolol and cimetidine, Nobel Prize winner Sir James Whyte Black was once senior lecturer at none other than University of Malaya! But then things were a lot different than it is now...

3) Anyway, I went to the library after lessons ended, stopping by Dunnes to pick up some groceries. For dinner, Khee Heng and I went out together to Boojum; my first in a very long time and made all the more special since it marks the beginning of our Reading Week! That's right - no lessons till the following Monday, although we have Principal Seminars right after that XD. Seems that there won't be an end to my hectic schedule, although I'm getting used to it.

4) The rest of my night was spent completing some unfinished projects, as well as completing my daily use of the Headspace App. So far I've been using it for three days and there's not much to comment on, although I'm remaining positive that there will be noticeable improvements after some time. And on that note, I think I'll end my blog update for today. But I haven't explained why I called today awesome at the beginning of the article. Sure, the results as well as the holidays are great, but the real reason why today has been awesome for me?

It's my dad's birthday. Happy birthday dad!! From your son all the way across the Atlantic YAMD

DAY 103

Dec 13

1) Today was another study day. Woke up early, only to forget that my bread had already expired days ago. So I had no choice but to buy breakfast at Coffee Doc RCSI (just as I did yesterday). Ate my scones in the library, and began studying until noon.

2) I bought lunch at Subway, and returned to the library to eat in peace. I really like the fact that we are permitted to eat in the library, as this makes it so convenient to multitask. After a fine meal, I continued with anatomy revision until the evening. Nothing exciting except rote memorisation here haha

3) For dinner, I went to Boojum and had their hard-shelled tacos. Felt really satisfied afterwards. Came back to the library, and this is the final leg before the last paper tomorrow. Right after our exams, my friends and I are scooting off to Edinburgh for a couple of days! Can't wait for all of this to be over... Anyways, back to my studies I suppose. Thanks for reading as always, and have a great day. Cheers!

DAY 98

Dec 8

1) Today was just another day at the library. I woke up early, had a nice breakfast before going to the library. Then I studied for our OSCEs (Objective Structured Clinical Examinations) until about noon.

2) Went out to Subway for lunch, and tried an Italian B.M.T. Sandwich. Suffice to say, it tasted awesome. Came back to the library, and after an hour or so, I went to my friends Vicknesh and Kuhan's apartment.

3) For two hours, me and a couple of friends took turns playing doctor and patient, as we practiced for our exams tomorrow. By the time I went back to the library, evening was fast approaching.

4) At about 6.00pm, Khee Heng, Zi Yan and I met up and we walked to Boojum. I got the Burrito Bowl with pollo chicken. Khee Heng followed me while Zi Yan opted for the burrito. Note to self - food tastes so much better with good company XD

5) Returned to the library where I'll be spending the rest of the night relaxing and watching some videos online. That's all for tonight, and thank you so much for reading. Have a great day everybody, cheers!

DAY 75

Nov 15

1) Today was a lovely day for walking, and walk I did! Woke up for breakfast, before doing some studying. At around noon, my friend Khee Heng dropped by my house, and we walked together to Dr. Ian O' Grady's GP Practice, where we had a GP Visit as part of our medical course.

2) As the Group Leader, I was responsible for making sure everyone came on time, before we entered the clinic. Luckily, all my teammates were very cooperative and arrived on time, so we entered as a group and things went smoothly. Dr. Grady introduced us to a patient, who gave us his account of battling and living with epilepsy.

3) After his narration, we had a short Q and A session, after which we are supposed to submit a portfolio regarding the GP Visit by Nov 28th, again part of our course requirement. By this time, Khee Heng and I were famished, so we decided to try Bunsen, which was highly recommended  by many of our friends. Our luck ran out though, since it was closed for maintenance.

4) Went to Boojum instead, and I got a free meal after using their Loyalty Card for the tenth time! Walked to Beaux Lane House to submit the GP Visit Form to Ms. Laura, before returning home for a quick nap. Now I'm off to study, relax and watch YouTube clips until the end of the day, before going for some supper afterwards. Thanks for reading, and have a great day. Cheers!

DAY 65

Nov 5

1) Today was a typical Saturday. Woke up to have my breakfast, before video chatting with my dad. Connection was pretty bad towards the end, so we stopped shortly after. Went up to study for a couple hours, before deciding to go out for some fresh air.

2) Had lunch at Boojum. Today I tried the pollo (chicken) burrito bowl, and it was marvellous. Tasted better than the chilli con carne and beef barbacoa which I tried previously. After that, I went grocery shopping at Tesco Baggot. Bought extra cookies for my trip to Mt. Errigal soon.

3) Came back to have a short nap, then studied till dinner. Tonight, I cooked rice with Scotch egg and veggies. Simple and delicious, just how I like it haha! Going back up to study and relax again, so I'll end on this note. Tomorrow I'll be going shopping with my friend Khee Heng, and I hope to get another pair of shoes too. That's all for today, and thanks for reading! Goodnight.
