DAY 97

Dec 7

1) Today was a hot day. I know it sounds strange, but smack in the middle of winter and yet the temperature was a balmy 16 degrees Celsius! Anyway, woke up much earlier to do some last-minute prep, before going to RCSI for exams.

2) The FUN1 paper was 1.5 hours, with 40 MCQ (multiple choice questions) and 3 SNQ (short-note questions). I found it to be quite challenging, and most of my friends agreed. Most of the questions tested factual knowledge, so guessing wouldn't really help haha. With our first paper done, I left for breakfast at AK. Henry's.

3) Went for lunch with Zi Yan and Khee Heng at Dicey's, and I had the grilled cajun salmon. Next exam (OSCE-Clinical Skills Examination) would be in two days, so I spent the rest of the afternoon practising for this exam. Then in the evening, me and Khee Heng went to a Middle Eastern restaurant for dinner. Tried out the chicken shawarma, served with naan bread for only €5.50.

4) Returned to Mercer, where me and Khee Heng went through the steps for the examination. After over an hour, we decided to call it a day, and I went back to the library, where I'll spend the night relaxing and watching some nice videos on YouTube. That's all for tonight, and thank you very much reading. Cheers!

DAY 96

Dec 6

1) Today was a long day for me. Woke up to have breakfast, then made my way straight to library to study. A couple of hours later and it was time for lunch. I went to Subway today, and tried their beef melt sandwich. It tasted really, really good after all the studying haha.

2) Came back to the library, where I studied for the next couple hours. I should point out that I'm not studying non-stop like some of the students here (they're absolutely bonkers XD), instead I take breaks to watch videos and listen to songs, or chat with my parents...

3) In the evening, I was looking for a nice restaurant for dinner. I found a Japanese-esque one selling ramen, for only €4.00! Then I found out that €4 was only the soup and noodles, and there was additional charge for meat, veggies or topping. Still, I went for the tonkotsu (chicken stock) ramen and really enjoyed it.

4) Returned to the library, and what rotten luck! Not only had the Wi-Fi at the library been temporarily shut down due to maintenance, but my phone's mobile data was out of credit! I wasn't feeling too happy about this to be honest, but thank god the Wi-Fi came back about 45 min later.

5) Continued this cycle of studying/ watching videos/ listening to music until 9.00pm, then I had a light supper. I plan to go home slightly earlier tonight, as my exams (Fundamentals of Biomedicine) begin at sharp 8.00am tomorrow. Anyway, that's all for tonight, and thank you for reading. Cheers!

DAY 95

Dec 5

1) Today was a mentally-draining day. Woke up for some toast, and then walked to the library as usual for my revision. Spent the morning cramming facts into my brain, and then went for lunch at Dicey's.

2) I opted for the turkey and ham portion, with stuffing inside. It was positively delicious! Came back and waited for over hour before being admitted for the practical exam. It turns out two surgeon prosectors were absent today, so there was a delay. Finally, at around two, it was time. Two prosectors, one whom I had seen before, greeted me and asked for my student ID.

3) Then the barrage of questions began. I tried my best, and I have no regrets, but there was just a lot of information to retain, and there were so many gaps in my memory. Anyway, what's done can't be undone, so I'll be hoping to study extra hard for the extra modules.

4) Came back to the library soon after, and then in the evening I went to Dunnes to do my groceries. Had my dinner at Burrito Blues and found out that all burritos sell for €5.00 on Mondays, as opposed to €6.00+, depending on which type of burrito. Awesome! ^^

5) For the rest of the night, I plan to prepare for the next exam, which is Fundamentals of Biomedicine. That's all for tonight, and thank you very much for reading. Good day/night. Cheers!

DAY 94

Dec 4

1) Today was another day of revision. Woke up early, had my breakfast, and it was straight to library after that. Studied for the morning, and then went to Subway to have lunch...

2) For €6, I got a nice lunch deal, with fizzy drink. My stomach full, it was back to the books haha. Then, at around three, I went over to my friend's apartment to discuss on anatomy. Stayed there for around two hours, then came back to the library.

3) Had an early dinner, and continued with my revision. I will be leaving the library a little earlier tonight, to make sure I have enough sleep for tomorrow's exam. Our first exam is the Anatomy Practical, worth 10% of our total CVR-UL (Cardiovascular and Upper Limb) Module.

4) As always, I will just try my best and hope things go as planned haha. That's all for today, and thanks for reading as always. Have a great day, cheers!

DAY 93

Dec 3

1) Today was yet another revision day for me. Woke up to have toast for breakfast, and made my way to the library to study. Not much happened after that if I'm honest, only that when lunch came, I was more than eager to get up and move about.

2) Bought a sandwich at Subway for takeaway, and came back to the library to indulge. Then it was more studying/vids/songs until evening came. Had the rest of my 'sub for dinner, and continued revision.

3) Finished the day by having some cookies and tea for supper. That sums up my revision week, and I'm glad to note that our exams begin in two days (so I won't be stuck here forever haha). Thank you for reading, and hopefully the upcoming days will be more exciting than this one. Good night, and cheers!

DAY 92

Dec 2

1) Today was yet another routine day for me. Had some toast for breakfast, before making my way to Mercer Library, which has fast become my second home haha. Studied for a couple of hours, and then at around 11.30am, there was a revision for Anatomy in RCSI.

2) After our last revision session before our exams (in three days (!)), I went to have lunch at AK. Henry's, and met up with some friends. Next, I walked back to the library for another bout of studying. For dinner, I had brought some biscuits and a warm cup of tea...

3) Took a short break to unwind and maintain some semblance of sanity, before continuing studies for the better part of the night. I really am trying my best, but at the same time, I hope I'm wise enough to balance study with some down time, so I don't end up like a walking zombie, saturated with medical information but not much else XD

4) That is all for tonight's blog update. Thanks for reading as usual, and have a great day/ night. Cheers!

DAY 91

Dec 1

1) Today was a typical studying day. Woke up early to have some toast for breakfast, and headed straight to library to begin studying.

2) Around noon, I went to Burger King for lunch, and tried their Lunch Deals for €5.75. Left very satisfied haha. Then it was pretty much revising until evening...

3) Had dinner at Burrito Blues, just opposite Boojum. I ordered a quesadilla, and had some Mexican fries as a side. I managed to choose the spiciest sauce though, and that instantly opened up my sinuses haha

4) Came back to the library. After a while, it was time for our second session of Laporoscopic Surgery Tutorials, under Mr. Cuan Harrington. Today, it was free and easy, so we were allowed to pick our own tasks and complete them, under his guidance. I did all five tasks, and so did the rest. Essentially it was a revision session from the previous lesson.

5) Had a lot of fun playing "surgeon" for a day. Apparently the tasks that we did are the same ones required as basic skills needed to become a surgeon. It wasn't easy that's for sure. Anyway, came back to library at around half past nine, and I plan to stay here for a while longer before heading home. That's all for today, and thanks for reading. Cheers!
