May 18
1) I woke up with a terrible stomachache. I barely had time to change before we had to check out from our hostel. Thanks to some Chinese herbal medicine from Melissa, it is now as good as gone. So we started off our day by taking the cab to the bus station. From there, we took a Flixbus to the Hbf Station in Dresden.
2) After putting our stuff in the locker, we started our tour around the whole of Dresden. But before that. we had to have lunch first. So along the way, we stopped by at an Italian restaurant called L'oteria. The two pizzas we ordered were humongous and more than sufficient to keep us full. After lunch, we paid a visit to the Green Vault, renowned for their rich collection of antiquities from different eras. Due to time constraints, we chose only the "Historic Green Vault Tour", which was located on the ground floor.
3) It was a shame that we couldn't take photos at all in the Green Vault, for the showpieces on display were phenomenal, spread out over nine rooms - each room a different theme and representing a different era. With the Green Vault explored, we walked over to Zwinger Palace, where we took many group photos. Continuing towards the River Elbe, we stopped by the Opera House (Semperoper Dresden) to snap some quick pics.
4 A bit more walking brought us to the Katholische Hofkirche (Dresden Cathedral). From there, we walked across the bridge (Augustusbrucke or King Augustus II Bridge) to visit the Goldener Reiter. The golden monument of King Augustus II gleamed in the afternoon sun, as we posed for photograph after photograph. Tired, we walked back along the bridge, and took a rest at the Bruhlsche Terrasse. As evening was approaching, we decided to go to the last tourist attraction site in our itinerary, the Frauenkirche Dresden (Church of Our Lady). Then, we stopped to grab dinner at a rather authentic German restaurant.
5) After a hearty meal, we took a slow walk back to the Hbf Station. Our slow walk turned into a fast-paced one when we realised how far we had to go. Luckily, we managed to reach the station in time, and asked for directions to the Flixbus bus stop. We would be taking the bus overnight to our next destination, Munich. We'll be staying there for the next three days, so there's plenty of time to rest and recuperate. I hope XD. Anyway, that has been my supremely enjoyable yet exhausting day. Do enjoy the photos below (SCROLL DOWN) as words don't do them much justice. Thanks for reading as always, and from us in Germany, "Gute Nacht" (Goodnight!)
