DAY 260

May 19

1) Today started off as a continuation from yesterday night, which saw us taking the midnight bus to Munich. I spent a rather sleepless night on the bus, and by morning I was feeling quite sleepy. Nevertheless, we got off at the station and went for breakfast at KFC. Next, we walked for about 15 minutes to our AirBnb hostel, a large quaint house deep in the residential area. After everyone freshened up, we took the train from Pasing station to the first stop, Marienplatz.

2) We made it just in time for the main attraction in the town square, the Rathaus-Glockenspiel - a set piece of 43 bells and 32 figures reenacting two stories from the 16th century. It lasted about 15 minutes, after which we visited the famous Victuals Market. Melissa and I tried the goulash soup (gulaschsuppe) in a shop claiming to sell "the best soup there is", while Kuhan and Zi Yan had fischbrotchen (sandwich with pickled fish and onion).

3) Afterwards, we went to a variety of tourist attractions around the area, including the Heilig-Geist-Kirche (Church of the Holy Ghost) and the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady). We also visited the world-renowned Hofbrauhaus, the Munich Beer Hall. I even got a lovely souvenir from one of the shops there. Around this time, hail began falling heavily, and we took shelter in the Church of Our Lady. After it subsided, we took the train to our next stop, the Karlplatz (Stachus). Essentially the central town square, there were rows of shops along it, ending with a beautiful fountain in the centre.

4) We spent close to an hour walking around, and Kuhan went and bought some earphones. After that, we went to a nearby cafe for some tea, before taking the tram to the English Garden. It was at this point that I started regretting not bringing a jacket, as the temperature quickly plunged. Anyway, we looked up Trip Advisor for nice authentic German cuisine, but unfortunately when we got there, the place had been fully booked. A little disappointed, we returned to the Central Station (Hbf), where we finally had our dinner.

5) I had a baguette with cheese, followed by a sweet pastry for dessert. With night approaching, we walked back to our hostel from Pasing Station, stopping by Penny to stock up for food tomorrow, only to find it closed. What luck! Returned happy and contented with what we had achieved, and looking forward to more of the same tomorrow. Tomorrow, we'll be boarding the FlixBus to Nuremberg, with lots of exciting places to see. Hopefully, we'll be able to cover a good deal of them. That's all for today guys. Thanks for reading, and have a nice day. Cheers!
