DAY 271

May 30

1) Today is our last day of our 16 day trip across four countries! Although part of me does not want this adventure to end, another part of me is saying it's time to get back to reality haha. Anyway, we have one last full day of adventure to go, and what better place to visit than the Plitvice Lake National Park. It consists of 16 terraced lakes, joined by waterfalls, that extend into a limestone canyon.

2) We took the non-guided tour option, as we felt that it gave us more time to explore the park. Melvin took on his role as tour guide, while Melissa was lead photographer with her DSLR camera. As for me, I guess I filled in the gaps haha. All jokes aside, we managed to take some lovely photos of the various lakes and waterfalls.

3) For lunch, we had stocked up all sorts of rolls and pastries from a famous local bakery right in front of our house prior to coming. After our lunch, we took a boat ride to the opposite side of the central lake. Then, we got the opportunity to row our very own private boat. Kuhan, Zi Yan, and I shared a boat, and for one hour, we took turns to paddle. After getting a hang of the rhythm, I admit it was a really fun experience, if a little tiring.

4) There are many routes which we can take, designated A-K respectively, with A being the shortest (and by extension, easiest) and K being the longest (most difficult). We were at route C, but took route K to go back to the starting point, which meant we walked back rather than use the return boat ride. It was a marvellous day for taking pics, and I'm sure you'll agree that some of the pics are frame worthy.

5) How should we round off the last day of our trip? We had that covered too. Instead of choosing the cheapest option as we usually did, we felt today we should indulge a bit. So it was to Komoba Bonaca, where we had the "Seafood Symphony" platter. We ordered two and shared among the five of us. The dish consisted of mussels on a bed of seafood risotto, flame grilled prawns, baked fish, squid, garlic and herb roasted potatoes, and chard. All of this we washed down with a glass (or two XD) of house wine.

6) After a sumptuous dinner (probably the best we will ever get for a long while), we returned back to our hostel to pack up. That wraps up my blog update for today, and I hope you enjoy the pictures. Have a nice day, cheers!
