1) Today we left our apartment in Split to travel to the town of Zadar. We reached in the afternoon, and were greeted by our host. The best part was our accommodation (AirBnb) was smack in the middle of the main street in Zadar.
2) After unpacking our stuff, we went for lunch at Proto. I tried the green gnocchi with prawn sauce. The rest of the day, we spent exploring the entire town. Zadar is really quite small, and can be covered completely in a matter of hours.
3) Among the many tourist attractions we passed by included the Greeting to the Sun, the Sea Organ, Roman Forum, St. Donatus Church, St. Anastasia's Cathedral and Bell Tower, St Chrysogonus' Gate, People's Square, and Five Wells Square. For me, the Sea Organ was a really unique piece of art. It is an experimental musical instrument, which plays music by way of sea waves and tubes located underneath a set of large marble steps.
4. For dinner, we again consulted Trip Advisor and went to a "komoba" (traditional Croatian restaurant) called Komoba Stomorica. My friends had the seafood platter while I tried he pasticada with gnocchi. Pasticada is a traditional beef stew, usually served with gnocchi or pasta. The food was great, and affordable too. At night ,we once again walked along the promenade, and visited the Greeting to the Sun art piece. At night, hundreds of LEDs illuminate the glass panels, recreating a simulation of the Solar System. Truly a sight of behold.
5) After a long day, we returned back to our hostel, ready for a good night's sleep before tomorrow's excursion. Tomorrow we are going to visit Plitvice Lakes National Park, so stay tuned for the next blog update. Thanks for reading as usual, and have a great day. Cheers!
Picture perfect in every way! (And this was taking from the bus to Zadar)
